Irresistible Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Pasta Hoops

Dad joke alert:

What do you call a dinosaur wrapped in bacon? Jurrasic Pork!

Life is full of pasta-bilities so let’s make the most of all the yum out there!

These are the best ever braai starters! Yes, yes, you can plonk some salad next to it and call it brunch or lunch….or you could just make a huge batch and enjoy. Just because they’re that freaking good!

What you need:

1 packet of giant pasta hoops.

No, I’m not sure what the Italian name is. No, you might not use the whole packet, so make some sauce and have the rest that way. Or make a whole bag’s worth - definitely recommend this version.

Rashers of bacon. One rasher for each hoop.

Ground beef mince. I started with 500g, but this will change depending on how many hoops you’re willing to cook.

1 tablespoon each of rosemary, origanum, parsley, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.

Basting sauce - use your favourite braai/barbeque sauce.

What to do:

Get the braai ready. Can also be done in an oven at 180*C if you prefer.

Boil the pasta until just al dente, drain and cool.

(The pasta is parboiled as it is very thick)

Stuff the mince mixture into the hoops.

This bit takes time, have a fortifying beer handy.

Wrap each hoop with a rasher of bacon and secure with toothpicks.

Brush all over with braai sauce.

Pop onto the braai.

Turn and baste until the bacon is cooked all around.

Grab your share, and sit back and enjoy! Note- grab a big share because there won’t be any left!

Score: 12/10 golden spatulas  - definitely a winner

Puppy paw of approval:

Teen nod of acknowledgment:

Family verdict: Burp
