Dairy Free Magical Mielies

Yummy mielies are the perfect side dish. They go well with all types of meat and poultry. Piping hot mielies are a welcome addition to the usual salads and breads typically found at any braai. These beauties are dairy-free for those who are lactose intolerant but still want the rich, creamy savoury yum of braai mielies.


What you need:

As many mielies as there are eaters

Mayo

Smoked paprika

Dried oreganum

Spiced rice seasoning - I used Robertson's Spice for Rice because it is a delish mix

Garlic powder or Lemon and Herb blend (or both)


What to do:

Mix all the seasonings with the mayo.

Slather all over the mielies liberally.

Pop onto the braai grill, and turn to ensure even cooking.

It takes around 10 minutes to get them golden all over.  The mayo cooks down and becomes seriously creamy - I promise you will not miss the butter. The seasoning makes this deliciously savoury and adds new levels of flavours to your mielies. Enjoy!
